At Dicta, your privacy is more than a legal requirementโ€”itโ€™s a core product value. We know how sensitive your recordings and transcripts can be, so we handle your data with great care and keep you in control at every step.


1. Your Data, Your Control

  • When you delete a recording, transcription, summary, or AI-chat thread, it is permanently removed from our servers.
  • We never sell or rent your personal data, and we collect only what is necessary to provide the service.

3. How We Use Google User Data

If you sign up with Google, we receive only your Google name and e-mail. They are used to:

  1. Create and secure your Dicta account
  2. Identify and authenticate your account
  3. Send essential service notifications

We never use this data for advertising, share it with unaffiliated parties for advertising purposes, or use it to train general-purpose AI/ML models.

Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

These service providers process information only as necessary to provide their services to Dicta and are subject to their respective contractual and privacy obligations.


5. Data Sharing & Transfers

  • No selling or renting. We do not sell or rent your personal data.
  • Service providers. We share data only with service providers when necessary to operate, maintain, analyse, and improve Dicta or provide features you request.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information when required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • International transfers. Some of our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Active content: Your recordings, transcripts, summaries, and related content may be stored while they remain available in your Dicta account.
  • User-initiated deletion: When you delete content through Dicta, it is removed from active systems. Residual copies may remain temporarily in backups where technically necessary before being automatically deleted.
  • Account data: Certain account, transaction, or technical information may be retained where necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, accounting, or dispute resolution.

Once data has been permanently deleted from our systems, it cannot be recovered.


7. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect your information, including:

  • TLS encryption for data transmitted between your device and our services
  • Encryption for data stored in our cloud infrastructure
  • Access controls designed to limit access to authorised systems and personnel
  • Monitoring and security practices designed to detect and prevent unauthorised access

No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.


8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the โ€œUpdatedโ€ date at the top of this page.

If changes materially affect how we collect, use, or share your personal information, we may provide additional notice through Dicta, our website, or e-mail where appropriate.
